 In 2015 my wife and I contracted Hi-Calibre Constructions to undertake a large renovation-extension to our family home in Florey.

We started the process by presenting some concepts and ideas that we had come up with prior to meeting with David and also discussing a budget range that we would like to work to. David helped us work through the design by adding some valuable input using his obvious experience to show us where improvements could be made whilst always keeping us informed of any financial impact.

Once the final plans had been passed and the contract finalised, we were pleased to see work commence almost immediately. David kept us informed throughout the build on what things were up to and also reminding us of the items we needed to be ready for in advance. This was very helpful as although we thought we were well prepared some items have longer lead times and the build moved quite fast.

We also found David quite approachable during the build, he was always happy to answer any questions we had and open to discussing variations as they arose (which inevitably did).  As we approached the end of build, David made a point of making sure that we were happy with how everything was progressing and was what we were expecting which we were.

Our build was on time, on budget and exceeded our expectations as far as quality and service provided. Our family absolutely love living in our home and we are very thankful to David for helping us achieve what we set out to do.

 Dave has a high calibre team! My husband has four prior house builds before this project, this was my first building experience. We both work in emergency services and had a firm budget to work with.

After umm-ing and ahh-ing for around four years, seeking quotes and designs for an extension on our ex-govvie, 3 bedroom, half bathroom from several Canberra building companies, we chose Dave in 2015.

The design process was personalised – Anna’s design took into account the mature trees on our block, orientation, natural light and more importantly, how we use our home and what we wanted.

We kept three external walls, and the rest was taken down and re-build around us. We have an open plan kitchen and living space, double glazed and insulated everything, new kitchen, walk in robe, luxury ensuite, separate bathroom and toilet and now a very comfortable, four bedroom home. Dave worked with us to minimise the disruption of living in what amounted to a knock-down, rebuild.

Our biggest concern was getting a surprise bill at the conclusion of the project. Dave was easy to talk to and listened to our concerns.  We had regular budget and allowance updates, so there were no shocks along the way, or more importantly, at the end.
